EL VERBO ‘TO GET’

Debes recordar que ‘to get’ no tiene traducción directa en español. En adición, por ser informal las traducciones son flexibles e imprecisas. Las traducciones rutinarias de los diccionarios, ‘to obtain´ y ‘to arrange’ son simplemente ejemplos de su uso.

Recuerda, también, que una buena traducción tiene un grado de flexibilidad. La traducción literal es usualmente mediocre y no debería ser nuestra guía o blanco.

Quizás no querrías usar ´to get´ si tú puedes evitarlo. Esto es aceptable y posible. Pero ciertamente no puedes evitar oírlo y debes entenderlo si hablas inglés.

Estos ejercicios dan ejemplos del uso de ´to get´ y también muestran una mejor versión (una version más formal y correcta) donde algo existe.
