CHAPTER THREE
MY ADVENTURES
By John James Carty
Hello, Zuzu here. I have serious news to report! Last week, in Calle Alcazar de Toledo, on my way to school, I was attacked by a horde of pirates.
You can always recognize pirates because they wear yellow and black striped sweaters and have a black patch over one eye. In addition, they are very ugly.
The pirate chief had a big nose, a red face, black teeth and a long chin. His friend had big ears, ugly greasy hair and a beard.
Pirates are very common around here because the port, where they park their ships, is just down the road.
They attacked me with their swords but I fought back bravely. I always carry my sword in my school bag. It looks like a plastic ruler but really it’s a sword.
Anyway, I got it out and leapt at the pirate chief, but I missed. I hit his accomplice a good blow and he ran away crying.
The first pirate advanced again but I jumped at him with my sword and struck him hard in the stomach. He cried like a baby.
Then suddenly, when I wasn’t looking, he pierced me with his sword, right on my nose!
My eyes automatically filled with tears. Of course I wasn’t crying, and when I could see again through my agony he had flown away like a coward!
I’ll beat him next time I see him, you can be sure of that! Meanwhile, like a brave soldier, I must attend to my wounds. See you soon. ZUZU
LULU WRITES: Zuzu was attacked by a swarm of wasps last week. It was really funny to see him fighting them off with his little ruler!
Of course I couldn’t let anyone see I was laughing, so I had to keep a straight face.
But inside, my stomach was laughing, going brrr, brrr. Mom had to take Zuzu to the emergency department of the hospital. I’m sitting here waiting for them to come back.
I’m thinking of buying a cat.
